Menu Item Special Instructions
Overview
Menu item special instructions allow customers to add comments to individual items. This enables the customer to their order beyond simple modifiers.
Once activated, you can enable this feature for single items or your entire menu.
This feature must be activated by the QikServe support team prior to enabling on your local dashboard. Submit a request for Menu Item Special Instructions to add ‘Ordering’ section to your dashboard to support@qikserve.com.
Configuration
Locating settings
On your dashboard, navigate to Venue Settings>Ordering to make any changes to menu item special instructions.
Enable/Disable Menu Item Special Instructions
This feature can be toggled on and off in the Special Instructions section.
You must select APPLY SETTINGS before any of the options below will be available for customers.
Special instruction default configuration
If you would like to limit where customers can leave special instructions you will need to select Off all items.
Navigate to the menu items you’d like to have special instructions on your dashboard under Menu>Items>(select item) then toggle on Special Instructions on this item.
Customer message
In the Customer message field you can decide whether items with special instructions enabled, require special instructions to be entered before the customer adds the item to the basket.

Unintegrated solutions do not have a message character limit but we recommend no more than 60 characters to simplify order reading/preparation. If you are integrated to an EPOS, review the chart below to confirm the character limit for your system and configure as needed.

Special Instructions Title
You can customize the messaging prompt when customers are asked to enter special instructions. The title will apply to all menu items and cannot be customized per item.

This allows you to give your customer a brand specific example of the information you’re wanting to receive from them when placing orders.
